Part Time - Functional skills in English, Maths & ICT
Who is the qualification for?
Functional skills are qualifications in English, mathematics and ICT that equip learners with the basic practical skills required in everyday life, education and the workplace. They are offered at Level 1 and Level 2.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no prior entry requirements.
How much does the training cost?
The training is free for those students who do not have a Level 2 in Mathematics, English and ICT.

What will I study on the course?
English: Reading,Writing and Speaking and Listening. You will be given the opportunity to improve your skills in each of the units in a context that is related to your employment. Letter writing, reading skills and formal discussions are all part of the delivery.
Mathematics:Learners are given the opportunity to improve skills specific to their needs and are related to everyday life.
ICT: This qualification will assist in presenting and communicating information through ICT.
The level studied will be dependent upon Initial Assessment.
How long will it take?
The time to complete the course is negotiable and dependent upon the level studied. You will be able to discuss this with your tutor. It is expected that you will attend a minimum of five sessions.
How will I be assessed?
English examinations in reading and writing are both assessed by a 45 minute examination which can be completed onscreen or paper based.The speaking and listening criteria is assessed in class.
Assessment for mathematics is conducted by one final examination lasting 1 hour 30 minutes. Again this can be onscreen or paper based.
ICT assessment involves a final 2 hour assessment.
English, Mathematics and ICT testing is on demand with Edexcel and therefore will be arranged for a time that is most convenient for the learner once the tutor feels they are ready.
